The new juror was amazed at the organized process and commented about how there were no surprises along the way of her experience. The court staff was pleasant and friendly while directing jurors through the process. Even the long line of jurors entering the Frank Murphy Hall of Justice moved swiftly.

As the jurors checked in, each individual was thanked and directed to a large room surrounded by television monitors running a loop video of what to expect as a juror. The filled room was very quiet and orderly. One could hear jurors being greeted by the friendly staff and the attention to detail when offered swift solutions to juror concerns.

One female juror was provided a paperclip to use with the name tag to prevent the sticky label from ruining her beautiful purple blouse. Another staff person patiently listened to a young lady who had been up all night at the hospital with her ill mother.The young woman was rescheduled for jury duty, after being excused for the day.

Once the 15 minute orientation began, all eyes were on the video monitors. Jurors were provided with very simple details on how their day would proceed and what to expect. The orientation was so thorough that no questions were asked.

Some of the first-time jurors expressed excitement about what their day would hold. Others quietly followed the court staff's lead and prepared to go to their assigned courtrooms.

The day concluded with satisfied jurors knowing that they have fulfilled a service that makes this nation a democracy.

The Court's Clothing Closet is housed at the Lincoln Hall of Justice located at 1025 E. Forest Bldg. B, Room 118. Donations are accepted on Tuesdays - Thursday, 9:00a.m. to 3:00p.m.
